Responding with Trust

It's windy outside, and we're sheltering in place. Life is feeling a bit grim and empty, even for an introvert like myself.

I'm challenging myself to find new ways to grow as a person. I think we'll all come out of this with a new appreciation for everything we have. I have so much time right now at my disposal--time to write, re-connect with friends. Maybe I'll learn how to dance or brush up on my piano playing.

I've been reading the news a lot lately--probably too much--but I keep reading because of the stories of people stepping up in big ways. It is a reminder that there is still good, that there are people willing to do incredible things no matter the cost.

There is hope in the midst of a worldwide pandemic. It is in the midst of the storm that we lean into Christ and trust. I can't imagine getting through it any other way. Jeremiah 17:7 has been my favorite verse for months, and still feels so fitting for this time: "blessed is the one who trusts in the Lord, whose confidence is in Him."

We are not promised easy lives, in fact, we are told to expect trials. But "God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear, though the earth give way and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea..." Psalms 46:1-2. Hopefully that knowledge encourages you as much as it does me.
