The Peacemaker

| Oh to be back in Kauai!! I miss the warmth and the views. |
I am a Peacemaker. I don't like conflict and don't like to have my calm life stirred up. Learning more about myself has helped me see areas of my life that I need to be a little more proactive in. I tend to be pretty easy going about life and sometimes fall a little too far into "I'm trusting in the Lord to work things out" instead of doing something proactively.
I started my new job recently and since it is only part-time, I still have a lot of free time to do the things I enjoy. Which is really nice in some ways, but not having a lot of structure means I typically get distracted by Pinterest or Netflix and don't accomplish much, so lately I've been trying to establish healthy habits, from better time management to exercise to reading more and writing consistently.
A year and a half later, I'm almost done with John Piper's book When I Don't Desire God: How to Fight for Joy. It's not a book I could speed through. While the whole book was good, I think I it was his chapter on The Practice of Prayer in the Fight for Joy that had the most impact. At one point I almost gave up reading his book. It was hard. Some of the chapters took me multiple days to read through because there was so much to read and absorb. But things that are easy don't usually spur growth or change, as this book did.
Really I didn't have any specific idea in mind when I started writing today, but the premise of my blog has always been the idea of shedding light on things that have changed my life, intrigued me, or challenged me. Learning more about my personality has allowed me to see the areas where I'm weakest and work on fortifying them. It's shed life on why I make the decisions I do. It's also interesting to learn about personalities from a Christian perspective, because it influences decisions, reactions, and every other area of life.
And, as an added bonus: I haven't done this for awhile, the following are some of my favorite worship songs right now:
You're Worthy of it All - Shane & Shane
This I Believe (The Creed) - Hillsong Worship
Psalm 46 - Shane & Shane
O Come to the Altar - Elevation Worship
Here as in Heaven - Elevation Worship
Broken Vessels (Amazing Grace) - Hillsong Worship
