Summer Adventure List

I've decided to create a list of things I want to do/and or see this summer. I feel like growing up we usually did the same things--dip netting at the Copper River, fishing down at Valdez in the fall, hikes around the Glacier View area, and, while these are all fantastic, there are a few things I have always wanted to do and so this summer it is time to stop wanting to do them and actually do them.

1] Thunderbird Falls: Any time we drove into Anchorage as a child I wondered about this place. I've always loved waterfalls, so this sounded really fantastic to me. I have never been there so this summer it is time to cross it off my list!

2] Eagle and Symphony Lakes: I did this walk/hike last summer and it is a gorgeous, about seven miles each way. The scenery can't be beat as you hike in the valley between mountains.

3] Hidden Lake: out at Glacier View, this is a hike I've only done once before. It's a pretty easy hike and worth the effort.

4] Chena Hot Springs: I haven't been here in over ten years and I would love to go back.

5] Eklutna Lake: another place I have never been, it sounds like there could be some decent hiking and views here.

6] Hope, AK: another place I haven't been. I hear there is a fun walk out to the point.

7] Juneau: this one probably won't happen, but I've never been here, maybe it's time I went!

8] Grand View Cafe: I had to throw this one in, it needs to happen at least once this summer.

9] Road trip: I want to do a road trip starting in Anchorage, going up the Parks highway, and coming around and back down the Richardson highway. This would have to be at least a two day trip with camping in Fairbanks (and could also do #4 on the list by going to Chena while there)

I'm sure other ideas will be tossed around this summer, and I didn't even get into camping or hikes just in the Anchorage area. So hopefully I will be blogging about my adventures around the state this summer. Let's hope it's another sunny summer!
